Shore Excursion Spinalonga Island, Traditional Villages and Churches
Elounda Village is an ideal destination for people who want a seaside holiday in a place that is neither too busy nor too isolated, having a spectacular coastline, shaded beaches, crystal clear seas, and archaeological interest. From the port of Elounda, we will take the boat to the island of Spinalonga.
The Spinalonga has 1200-1500 visitors daily during the summer months and is one of Crete’s most popular archaeological sites. Spinalonga is also known as Leper Island, where patients from Crete and the rest of Greece were quarantined until 1957.
The next stop is Agios Nikolaos, a beautiful town with a small-town feel that has lots to offer: the lake, port, and Marina. Its unique features start with the lake, a folklore-inspiringly deep body of water that is connected to the sea by a narrow inlet. The lake joins the sea with a strip of water under the tiny road bridge.
